Write Your Screenplay Autumn 2025

This programme takes place online every Tuesday evening starting September 16th 2025, 19:30-21:30 Irish time. Classes are recorded so that you can catch up if you can't attend on any date. 

 Over ten weeks in live classes, we will cover: 

• The questions to ask before you start writing (or rewriting) 

• Finding your ending before you worry about the middle of the story (and why that's important)

• The shapes of screen stories and how they differ from stories on the page or the stage 

• How to keep your audience engaged, using dramatic tension

• Finding the essence of your characters and communciating them economically 

• Delineating a character's arc

• Clarifying your theme and making it resonate in every scene

• Knowing the broad strokes of the story before you start writing pages 

• Making each scene a mini-masterpiece

By the end of the programme you will have: 

• A brief outline that communicates the essence of your original idea in 500 words or less. 

• A four-page outline that will make people want to read your screenplay 

• A compelling logline . 

• A pitch deck to send out to potential producers, funders and creative collaborators

• Sample pages that will demonstrate your ability to write visually 

• A clear understanding of how to write for the screen that will serve all your writing in the future

• Advanced skills in how to turn a scene
